American Academy of Orthotist and Prosthetist Board Certified Orthotist
Illinois Licensed Orthotist
Chicago – Lincoln Park
I am an American Academy of Orthotist and Prosthetist Board Certified Orthotist since 1998 and Illinois Licensed Orthotist since its inception. I started my education at Michigan State University and graduated in 1989 with a BS in physiology. I attended Northwestern University Prosthetic and Orthotic Post Graduate programs receiving certificates in 1996 for orthotics and 1997 in prosthetics. I am a member of AAOP and a current member and past president Midwest Chapter of AAOP. After completion of NUPOC orthotic program I worked for American Limb and Orthopedic Company until 2001 when I purchased their Chicago office, changing the name to American Limb and Orthotic Center. I successfully ran my practice for 12 years when I was approached by Scheck and Siress to purchse my business. I felt that becoming a member of the Scheck and Siress organization was a good fit for my staff and I and we joined the Scheck team in May of 2014. The benefits of belonging to a larger company like Scheck and Siress has made me a better clinician due to working with such experienced and knowledgeable colleagues, varied patient population, and multiple referral sources. I continue to learn something new everyday and by doing so I am helping my patients more.
People often ask me how I got into this field. My response is usually I stumbled, but being an orthotist is where I was genetically predisposed to be — my mom was a registered nurse and my dad a carpenter. When you combine them you get an orthotist like me. I love doing what I do and my patient’s improved function and their smiles make it all worthwhile.
