Joseph is an American Board Certified and Illinois Licensed Prosthetist and Orthotist with over 23 years of experience in the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics. He is a principle at Scheck and Siress and is the clinical and administrative director at Scheck & Siress’ Oakbrook Terrace office.
Joe is also the clinical director of the Marianjoy Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic clinic and the Marianjoy lower extremeity orthotic tuning clinic which specializes in video gait analysis to optimize the function of patients using lower extremity orthoses.
He attends the peripheral nerve and foot and ankle clinics at Loyola Hospital where he designs orthoses for a variety of pathologies including neuropathy, paraylsis, stroke and arthritis.
Joe has a area of special interest in lower extremity prosthetics and orthotics focusing on elevated vacuum technology, microprocessor based knee and ankle systems and lower extremity orthotic management utilizing stance control KAFO technologies and orthotic tuning to enhance and optimize patient safety, comfort and function.
In addition to patient care, Joe is a member of the board of directors at Scheck and Siress is chairman of the marketing committee as well as a member of the purchasing and human resource committees. Joe is the past president of the Midwest Chapter of Prosthetists and Orthotists, a member of the Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and a member of the Illinois Society of Orthotists, Prosthetists and Pedorthists.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and received his prosthetic and orthotic education at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
Joseph served as a volunteer practitioner at the 2002 Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, UT and was the key organizer for the First Swing Golf Clinic for physically challenged individuals in May, 2003. He has volunteered with the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association, the 2014 Chicago Paratiathelon and Soles for Souls homless outreach that provides shoes and pedorthic services for Chicago’s near West side homless community.
He is currently involved with the Adaptive Adventures organization that provides outdoor opportunities for the physically challeged population to participate in a variety of outdoor activites including adaptive cycling, kayaking, water skiing, snow boarding and snow skiing.
When not working, Joe enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his wife, 4 children and dog, Murphy.
