Matt is an American Board Certified and Illinois Licensed Prosthetist and Orthotist with over 14 years of experience who manages the Scheck and Siress facility located in Hickory Hills.  He became interested in the field after being exposed to orthotic use while studying athletic training at Illinois State University.  Matt was always led toward the medical field since his grandfather was a pharmacist but enjoyed working on fixing cars and motorcycles.  Both interests came together after shadowing a local orthotist and his career path was set before him.  He loved the hands on facet of the job along with the interaction and collaboration with the patients to fabricate custom prosthetic or orthotic devices.

Matt received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Illinois State University. He received his orthotic & prosthetic education from Northwestern University.  In 2003 Matt was awarded the Gunther Gehl Scholarship by the Midwest Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.

He frequently lectures to various groups, including: Rush Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents, Governors State Doctor of Physical Therapy students and Fox College PTA students.

Along with providing inpatient care at local hospitals and nursing facilities Matt attends a regular prosthetic/orthotic clinic at Ingalls hospital.

Matt has extensive experience providing pediatric orthotic care to patients diagnosed with cerebral palsy and spina bifida, including the use of RGO’s and tuned afo’s.  He enjoys collaborating with his prosthetic patient’s to determine the most appropriate type of prosthetic care.  He is certified to fit the Otto Bock C-Leg, Ossur’s Power and Rheo knee with  Proprio Foot and Unity system.

He is trained in FES for foot drop and has provided numerous patients with the WalkAide and Bioness Systems.  Additionally, he is trained in the GOSS approach to conservative scoliosis treatment using computer aided design and is proficient in helmet management for cranial deformities.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors with his 3 young children
