Brett Kramer, CPO / LPO

American Board certified and Illinois Licensed Orthotist and Prosthetist
Geneva – Huntley – South Barrington

Mr. Kramer is an American Board certified and Illinois Licensed Orthotist and Prosthetist.

As the son of a Prosthetist/Orthotist, Brett began participating in the fields of O&P as a technician at the age of 16.  Prior to leaving for college, he became a competent O&P technician specializing in the design and fabrication of complex spinal orthoses.

Brett received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/ Physiology from Southern Illinois University in 1996.  He went on to do his post graduate work in O&P at Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center in Chicago Illinois.  He graduated at the top of his class and was awarded the Gunther Gehl scholarship for his outstanding work done in orthotics.

Mr. Kramer became the President of Woodfield Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2000.  He was able to help build the small practice in Hoffman Estates, which he ran with his father Steve Kramer CPO, into a multi facility practice with locations in South Barrington, Batavia, and Huntley.  Woodfield Orthotics and Prosthetics was responsible for providing quality Orthotics and Prosthetics to 6 Western Suburban Hospitals and dozens of rehabilitation centers and extended care facilities.  With well over 25 years of experience, Mr. Kramer has worked with virtually every type of amputee, from custom silicone prosthetic fingers to the most sophisticated hydraulic and microprocessor controlled prosthetic feet and knees.

In 2015 Woodfield Orthotics and Prosthetics was acquired by Scheck & Siress.  It was a natural coming together of two likeminded care facilities with deep rich history and similar reputations of superior O&P care.   Brett is now instrumental as a leader of the Scheck and Siress team while managing the western suburban facilities, and acting as the clinical and administrative director of those locations.  He is on the Scheck & Siress Board of Directors and is active in many committees to help successfully drive the company forward.

Brett is also on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Society of Orthotics and Prosthetics (ISOP).  This society’s board is comprised of the largest O&P industry leaders in the state of Illinois.  It’s mission is to help promote the science and art of the profession and to protect the public health in Illinois.  He is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and its Midwest Chapter.  He also regularly lectures at local colleges for Nursing and Physical Therapy programs, as well as frequently educating the health care profession in Hospital and Rehab settings throughout the Western Suburbs.

For over 15 years, Mr. Kramer has attended a humanitarian mission in Queretaro, Mexico called  “C.R.I.M.A.L.”, Centro de Rehabilitacion Integral de Minusvalidos del Aparato Locomotor, or in English-Integral Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled of the Musculoskeletal System. The clinic has been responsible for providing thousands of prostheses since it began.   Brett has volunteered his time to help manage hundreds of amputees at the clinic.  This provides an opportunity to provide many Mexican communities prostheses that they would otherwise not had the ability to get. The South Barrington location that Brett manages, is a donation site for prosthetic limbs that are no longer needed so his team can disassemble them and utilize the components at the Queretaro Clinic.  Brett has a passion for humanitarian work and looks forward to becoming active with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) mission trips that are sponsored by Scheck & Siress in Guatemala and Quito Equador.

In his free time, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, biking, and snowmobiling.
