Michael Elsen is an American Board Certified, Illinois State Licensed Prosthetist and Orthotist. He completed his Prosthetics and Orthotics training at Northwestern University and joined Scheck & Siress in 2010. Michael is involved in co-directing the Adaptive Adventures program for Scheck & Siress and often participates with the Blade Runners amputee running group. He serves as Lab Manager of the Rush Scheck & Siress office.
Michael approaches each individual patient with a strong emphasis of ‘what is best for the patient’ while using his strong biomechanics background from his Material Science and Engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Throughout the year, Michael has the opportunity to lecture and educate with the Physiatry Program at Rush as a contributing educator. He specializes in stroke, pediatrics and lower extremity prosthetics.
Michael’s interest in O&P (orthotics and prosthetics) first began as a child when he would attend his brothers AFO appointments at the old Scheck & Siress office on Madison Avenue in Oak Park.
“Orthotics and Prosthetics are a perfect combination of engineering and medicine,” says Michael.
