John is an American Board Certified and Illinois Licensed Prosthetist, a registered occupational therapist, ABC examiner in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a Veterans Administration qualified Prosthetist. He is chairman of the board for Scheck & Siress. With over 20 years experience, John provides guidance and direction to the Scheck & Siress Oak Park office as its laboratory manager, senior prosthetist, and prosthetic resident supervisor.
John frequently conducts prosthetic in-services for area hospitals and attends prosthetic clinics at Loyola and Rush University Medical Center. He also designs and fits facemasks for burn patients at all Chicago area burn units.
John is on the faculty of Northwestern University’s prosthetic program, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotics & Prosthetics. He actively participates in the Illinois Society of Orthotists, Prosthetists, and Pedorthists; the American Occupational Therapy Association; the Association of Children`s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics; the Amputee Coalition of America; the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and its Midwest Chapter, of which he was a past director.
In addition, John has published several articles on prosthetics in the Amputee Coalition of America’s Journal, inMotion and has co-authored a paper with Michael S. Pinzur, M.D. on the preliminary results of a prefabricated, immediate post-operative prosthetic limb system for lower-extremity amputees. He was recently presented with an award from “Hearts in Motion” for his outstanding contributions to children from Central and South America.
John received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois and his Prosthetic education from Northwestern University. |
