MAS Socket Design
The MAS (Marlo Anatomical Socket) was designed in 1999 by Marlo Ortiz Vazquez del Mercado, of Ortiz Internacional, Jalisco, Mexico for Transfemoral patients.
Socket fit is based on containment of the ischium as well as the ramus, and allows for much lower trimlines than with other socket designs. Patients can sit more comfortably because there is no plastic beneath the gluteus, they enjoy full range of motion, better functional gait, and important to patients and family members too, much better cosmesis.
